SHANNON METERAUD WINS HER 1st IFBB PRO CONTEST AT THE 2005 IFBB ATLANTA INVITATIONAL PRO FIGURE!!
Hi and thank you for visiting my site. If you are new to the site-Welcome. If you are returning-Welcome back and I hope you enjoy the new look.
Let me tell you a little bit of how I got involved in this whole crazy Fitness world…..
Back in 1994, a friend of mine competed in the Galaxy, and I went to cheer her on. From that point, I new this was something I wanted to do. For a year, I trained for the Galaxy. In 1995; I entered and placed 2nd to none other than-- Mia Finnegan-- by 1 point. And I won the obstacle course. I was hooked! From there I went on to do other obstacle type challenges and did well, winning the SuperFitness in Hawaii soon after. The next couple of years I decided to give the NPC a run. In 1998, I did the SC State show in Fitness and won the overall. From that point, I decided the NPC was where I needed to be. I felt I was being treated more like an athlete and more “at home. “
I continued with the NPC and got my Pro card in 1999 at the USAs. My first Pro show was the Fitness International-where I placed 3rd. And from that point on it hasn’t stopped.
I have been an IFBB Fitness Pro for 7 years. I took 2001 off to have my 1st child, Braylee Jo. And returned to competition in 2002-just 8 mos after having her. After trying to juggle a new baby and training for Fitness competitions for a couple of yeas, I realized I wasn’t Wonder Woman. After the new IFBB Figure division emerged, I started to give it some consideration and decided it was the best road for me to take. I competed in Figure in 2004 and 2005. It’s a little different, but it keeps me in shape and gives me a goal. In 2006, I gave birth to another beautiful baby girl, Chesney Rae and took off that year with plans to return to competition in 2007. Now you don’t have to declare a division in the IFBB so maybe I might venture back to the Fitness side for a little excitement-who knows?
In the mean time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank “Team Shannon”. They include my husband, Tres Bennett-- without his guidance, nutritional expertise, grueling workouts, patients, love, and understanding I would never had made it this far. To my managersJ.M. and Debbie Manion for their support, friendship and guidance. To my mom, for teaching me so much about life and being there whenever she is needed. And last, but first in my heart, my daughters, Braylee and Chesney. They teach me every day about patience and the true meaning of love and life. Thank all of you for believing in me and helping me achieve my dream. I love you all.
God Bless and Enjoy!
